November Light

Some days still, the sun feels like summer, all that dappled light breaking through the trees.

The green turf beneath my feet is lovely; my feet are happy basking in the sun-lit grass, strewn with a cloak of many colors.

I have no need for boots just yet; sunlight pours down like a warm cup of tea, drenched in honey.

The honey is so sweet; the golden light belongs to autumn, and the air is fragrant from the early morning rain.

I marvel at the landscape, etched like intricate filigree, patterns too beautiful to duplicate.

Even the brownest, dullest leaves, present themselves a burnished gold in the sun.

The days shimmer in the November light; the tree boughs are not yet ready to carry the weight of winter.

I am not a keeper of the seasons; I only know how fast they come and go.

High in a tree a bird sings, and I listen to his song; I let the music sink deep into my soul.

I will remember this song in winter, on dark days; I will listen for the music always.

Some days still, the sun feels warm like summer, all that dappled light breaking through the trees.

John 8:12: “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

  1. Thankful for your lovely interlude.

    1. Autumn is a beautiful time! I do love each changing season…Some places have seen their first snowfall, but it is still warm in Virginia.

    2. “Interlude” is just the right word for this post.

    1. Thank you! I am ready for November! 🙂

  3. Nice! I’d say you captured it!

    1. I tried to capture it with my camera! I took a lot of pictures. It is not an easy thing to convey the beauty of the natural world in a photo. Light changes throughout the day and everything looks completely different from hour to hour. You are a master of photography Mary; it is definitely an art!

  4. Such a lovely marking of the passing season . . .

    1. 🙂 🙂 🙂 These seasons pass so quickly!

      1. Don’t I know it . . .

    1. Each season offers so much beauty; God has gifted us with the bounty of nature’s blessings.:) Enjoy these autumn days Melissa!
