How lovely it is to step outdoors into the light.
How lovely to look up at the sun, a radiant expression of a new day.
Like a cup of tea with a spoon of golden honey, it warms the soul.
Above, a hawk glides, so sure, so steady, such mastery of the sky.
The trees are bare now; still, their outstretched arms embrace the light.
I, too, lift up my arms; I close my eyes, and let the day wash over me, the fresh air, a moment of grace.
The prayer I whisper is one of thanks; I think of all the wishes in my life that have come true, all the dreams that came to be.
Of course, there were the sorrows, the hurts so deep, I remember it all, as though it were yesterday.
But, what of those sad moments, when light was always filtered through the clouds, even in those darkened times?
It is good to remember the graceful arc of the hawk; I wonder, does he know his same old way so well, or does he try a new path in the sky each day?
How lovely to step outside into the light.
How lovely to look up at the sun, a new day dawning within my soul.
John 8:12: “Again, Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
In heaven above, the torch of love is passed from One to all; the flame is lit anew each day, and so it is, forever, and without end, only light, and endless day.
Simply beautiful. Both the words and the pictures! 😊
Thank you! I hope your New Year is off to a good start! 🙂 🙂 🙂
serenely exquisite, your words and the delightful photos!
I enjoyed picking out these photos! Just looking at them brings me joy. This morning, I heard the owls in the woods. Later, I came down for coffee, and heard a single bird singing so loudly. There is much that is not right with the world; still, when you watch the sun rise, or hear a bird sing so sweetly, you know in your soul that life is indeed very good.
exactly Linda, and it’s those simple joys that support us thru the current turmoil!
Oh Kate, the blessings to be found in the simple things! The more we focus on these daily blessings, the better able we can cope with everything else. Sometimes, at night I wake up and cannot sleep. I look up out my window at the stars. It is a ‘simple thing’ and yet not so simple at all. The stars are always there for us to look at; we must train our hearts and minds to see their glittering light, to know that God works in all things, starlight always part of the darkest moments.
there is always light to be found in any situation, you are so right Linda!
Thank you Kate, the sunflower in our midst; may that radiant sun pour down on you, and may God’s Holy light inspire you always, and keep you in His care.
plenty of sunshine to day thanks Linda 🙂
This is beautiful and love the photos to accompany it!
Thank you! 🙂 There is so much beauty to behold. In the midst of this pandemic and so much else that has unfolded in the aftermath, it is easy to lose sight of all the good things. We are blessed with so much…we have to remember that.
This spoke directly into my soul this morning. Morning 🌄
We have to focus on the light; God is with us in these days and hours. Wishing you blessings this morning!

Lovely, Linda. Love the pics and your picturesque words. God’s grip – Alan
There is so much beauty in this world that God has created. In these uncertain days, I pray a great deal. The light of Christ penetrates my fears, lifts me up, keeps me whole. I have my moments, but the radiant love of God allows me to step out into each new day.
We do need that prayer.
Prayer is everything, and God is always listening. Every prayer is heard…those we speak, and those we whisper in our hearts.
Beautiful and uplifting!
Thank you! We are all trying to stay positive…tough times! Whatever we go through, God is here with us day in and day out. The sun rises and sets because He has ordered it so. When I reflect on the fact that no problem is too big for God, I find peace.
So true!
Those photos are just breathtaking! And yes, we do need to be reminded that God’s light is always here for us, even when the times seem very dark indeed. Remembering that helps me cope so much. Thanks for this post…..
We must keep looking for the bright spots, Ann. God’s light does shine through our darkest moments. Keeping the faith and putting one foot in front of the other is all we can do. With each and every step we take, we never walk alone.
