Spring Tulips

How many days of wonder?

There is so much beauty to recall.

Pink petals are the dawn of spring, the sunrise of so many colors.

White blooms cast a mysterious glow; like a moonbeam, the flowers are enchanting.

There are no harps playing, no soft serenade outside my window.

And yet, I am in love with the romance of life.

The tulips softly unfold, one upon another, a tender embrace.

There is the faraway music of, oh, so many things.

I think of bees that buzz, and tree branches that whisper in the wind.

And then, there are the tulips, soundless, but, perfect in every way.

In my mind’s eye, I see a field of tulips; ever so graceful, they dance upon the floor of heaven.

How many days of wonder?

I could not begin to imagine.

Petals of love drift in piles at our feet; the staircase of life blooms with eternal flowers.

Yes, it is the dawn of spring, and the sunrise of so many dreams.

“God writes the Gospel not in the bible alone, but on trees and flowers and clouds and stars.” Martin Luther

“God is in all creatures, even in the smallest flowers.” Martin Luther

Wishing you blessings at Easter!

    1. They are a lovely first sign of spring!

  1. Beautiful imagery! My wife absolutely loves tulips. I also enjoyed Martin Luther’s words.

    1. Thank you! I agree with your wife…tulips are amazing! (I have a whole book on Martin Luther…his life and his teaching.) So many of his quotes speak directly to my heart.(I probably have more than one book…)

  2. What a lovely springy post! The poem and photos both put me in the mood! Of course, in Arizona we have just jumped to summer, all in one day LOL.

    1. I am a summer person; summer was always my favorite season. Arizona must be beautiful. I have never been there, but I have seen photos. Still, I do love the change of seasons, and spring has a magic all its own.

      1. A change of seasons is nice. Of course, we have a change, but not like back east. I am originally from Michigan, so I used to love the beginning of summer!!!!

        1. Michigan is a beautiful state! Nothing like summertime! πŸ™‚

          1. My birthday is in July which is by far the best month in Michigan. Now that I don’t live there anymore I always especially miss it around the time of my birthday.

          2. I can understand why you would you miss it in July! I have lived in a number of states, and I have found that each one has wonderful things. I miss certain things about each of these places, because no one place has absolutely everything. There are those who would argue that point, but I think that is because they have not experienced the beauty of all that is out there. The Indiana dunes are breathtakingly beautiful, and so is the ocean in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Every state has something beautiful!

  3. I love your words: β€œThere are no harps playing, no soft serenade outside my window. And yet, I am in love with the romance of life.” The earth has come alive with colour. I’m doing a spring dance!

    1. Life itself is a dance. We must be mindful of the music, lest we miss the opportunities that come our way. The more deeply we fall in love with the music, the more deeply we appreciate the gift we have been given.

      1. How very very well said!

        1. May we be ever-listening for that music…Happy Easter!

  4. Lovely. Luther was right. The creation screams out of His handiwork. Springing to life. God’s grip – Alan

    1. Yes! We see God’s fingerprint everywhere we look!

  5. I love how the simple beauty of tulips can prompt the sublime!

    1. So true! They are one of my favorite flowers!

  6. It’s so easy to feel spring just by looking at your beautiful flowers which form your centrepieces and which you tuck into nooks and spaces.

With your flower arrangements, you have described life exactly as it is. Some blessings and beauty we see right before us. Some live quietly in the most unexpected places, waiting for us to slow down and come upon themπŸ’—πŸ’•

    1. Yes, that is exactly right! There are blessings in unexpected places, things we could never have imagined. We must be still at times in the garden of life; who knows what we might stumble upon on the garden path? Who knows what beautiful things might be blooming just ahead?

  7. Beautiful post, Linda. Love all your Spring decor too. Tulips are one of my favourite flowers! x

    1. Thank you! It is fun decorating for spring! Before we know it, it will be time for decorating with seashells and summer flowers!

  8. Very nice Easter prose Linda. Those who are filled with wonder often find it in their wander. Tulips express that fulfillment perfectly.

    1. That is a great way of looking at it! Wishing you Easter blessings!

  9. We can’t grow tulips because they are a favorite of the many deer here. Buona Pasqua!

    1. Tulips can be difficult! We have problems with voles eating the tulip bulbs. We try to plant them close to daffodils…the voles do not like daffodils.

  10. Very nice! Easter blessings to you! 🐣🌷

    1. Wishing you Easter blessings as well!

  11. I hope you have a very happy Easter, Linda! Tulips always mean Spring to me, and Spring means hope and renewal. And I can’t think of any other year when I’ve needed hope and renewal quite so much!

    1. I feel exactly the same way as you do, Ann! We are certainly in need of renewal after the year we have been through. My prayers are with you and your husband this Easter. I pray for little blessings to find you in unexpected places, and I pray for healing and health. I hope that all the words of comfort and inspiration you give to others, will return to you many times over. God bless you and your family at Easter and always!

  12. such a cheerfully soothing poem with amazing pics … hope your Easter was spiritual … could you go to Church?

    1. We went to a garden church service outdoors at our church. You could sit outside on lawn chairs or you could sit and listen in your car. It was wonderful!

      1. wow everyone has adapted so well, that is ideal for the elderly or ill once the pandemic is over πŸ™‚

        1. Yes! The world is shifting back to family reunions over time; it has been a long time coming! πŸ™‚

          1. indeed, altho the pandemic has been tough in many ways there have also been many good things come out of it!

          2. After a season of great hardship, it takes a bit for people to make a fresh start. Like the green growing things outdoors, they make a beginning, and then, take off. In time, the showy flowers take the place of the little seedling trying to break through and find the sunlight. Without the struggles in life, would the sun ever feel so warm and wonderful? Even the most trying times bring us forward, teach us new things about ourselves, and the world around us.

          3. so wisely and beautifully said Linda!
