I open up the book of months, and here it is, November.
The windswept leaves gently embrace my pumpkins and chrysanthemums; they remind me that telling time is about celebrating the seasons of life.
There is so much to remember in November; the pages flutter in the autumn breeze, pages of thanksgiving.
The days are chilly, and soon we will sit beside the firelight; those glowing embers tell the best November stories.
In that flickering light, we seize upon a spark of hope for the winter yet to be; the year will end soon, but November will not be forgotten.
I collect the leaves of autumn, tangerine, and fire-engine red; these are the bright embers before a first snow, and frosty mornings.
In these hours, God has seasoned the earth with the perfect blend of grandeur; November is the enchanting potpourri of lovely things, like woods and fields no longer green, but softly diffused in a halo of light.
We are grateful for the wonder of it all – pumpkin pie, and sun-lit hours spent with family and friends, slate-blue skies, and owls that hoot deep into the night.
We open the book of months and savor the passage of November’s golden moments; if we are wise, the autumn leaves stir our hearts, and we express our gratitude, day by day, one story at a time.
Psalm 107:37: “They sowed fields and planted vineyards that yielded a fruitful harvest.”
God has seasoned the earth. Love the way you worded that. Just beautiful, Linda.
Thank you! I am so looking forward to Thanksgiving this year…so much to be thankful for. π
I appreciated your reflection on November. In my area, it tends to be underappreciated.
It is such a beautiful season…In the last few years, there has been such a rush to get to Christmas. It is not a race; the countdown of days should be that of thanksgiving!
I agree. The countdown of days should be about giving thanks!

Of all the months, I am in the woods the most in November. Hunting, logging fallen trees from storms for milling or fire wood and fresh snow photos. Love the wording as well Linda. You love the sea and I the woods.
I do love the sea best…but the woods are wonderful also. I always think of the lines of the poem by Robert Frost, ‘Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening’: “The woods are lovely, dark, and deep…” And so they are…perfect description! π
So beautiful, Linda. I love your writing and how serene I feel after reading. Here, November brings rain, but that too is something to be grateful for. I enjoy the patter and how the leaves glisten. Have a wonderful November. <3
We do get our share of rain also! I agree…rain can be a lovely thing. I think it is the quietude it brings…and we certainly do need it! π Wishing you a wonderful November also!

Such lovely prose, Linda–poetic actually! And if someone came to this post disenchanted with the encroachment of winter, surely they will come away with new appreciation for November, “seasoned by God with the perfect blend of grandeur.”
Yes, Nancy, we must celebrate all the seasons, for each one has its own magic. I do not really like the cold weather, but I love the snow. I always know that the child in me is alive and well as I await a first snow. (We don’t have all that much snow in Virginia compared to other places, but it is always nice to get some.)
I always anticipate the snow too. What amazing beauty God creates with just one color–white!
Snow is amazing…each and every snowflake, a little masterpiece! I love when you look outside and there is just a dusting, and then before you know it, everything is covered!
really appreciate the gratitude and beauty of this post, such dramatic seasonal changes!
It is dramatic! I put several pumpkins out this year alongside the mums. Autumn is a pretty time for the garden…We always think of spring and summer and all the flowers for the garden. But even in the wintertime, the garden is quite beautiful. The evergreens are lovely and the holly berries add a touch of brightness.
oh they would indeed … here our weather changes are dramatic but most of our plants/trees are evergreens so we never see this changing of the colours π
Beautiful. November is a special month in my life. My father and my son were born this month. Here in Southern Michigan, early November is beautiful this year because of a very warm October. The trees are brilliant with color. Thank you for this wonderful read and the inspiration it brings.
This is my birthday month as well! π It is a beautiful time of year…I am sure the fall foliage in Michigan is awesome. You live in such a pretty state. We have lots of trees where I live, so I do need to get out there and start raking!
Happy November birthday — on whatever date is comes.
Thank you!!! π π π
What a beautiful message and pictures! ππ
Thank you! So much to celebrate this time of year! π
What a beautiful piece of poetry and passion! So much to savor in this month, and your writing captures it eloquently.
There is so much to be thankful for…Sometimes, we think about the really ‘big’ things, but the little things are so important. At the end of the day, the little blessings really make a difference.
Yes, you have captured November!
π π π I am enjoying these November days!
The older I get, the more I appreciate November! It’s a beautiful month, still quiet before the rush of Christmas. What a lovely post, Linda!
I always think of autumn as a time to make gradual changes; it is a season to mull things over, and reflect on all the good in our lives. We move forward into the holidays with a deep sense of gratitude, a sense of peace we could not know otherwise.
This is beautiful Linda. I love November – I always seem to have really good November’s so feeling really positive at the moment and of course, leaning into gratitude where I can.
I hope you have a wonderful November! π There is so much to celebrate…and we don’t want to miss the beauty of the season!
You captured this beautiful month beautifully! π
We have had some absolutely beautiful days of late…warm and sunny! π
We’ve been very fortunate! Enjoy them while they’re here!
I have begun with the raking! π We have so many trees and so many leaves… I do enjoy this season. π
You have the soul of a poet, Linda. Beautiful write-up on an exquisite season. Happy Autumn! π
It is a wonderful season! Anything seems possible in Autumn…the leaves change color and the world looks all brand-new. It makes us think of changes that are good for us too. We can try new things as well…
So beautifully said. This has been a very beautiful autumn.
We are lucky the weather has been so nice…some days still feel like summer! Wishing you a lovely Thanksgiving!
Thank you and same to you!
