Attic Treasures

Dust off your dreams, unclutter your mind, and begin again.

Like attic treasures, long forgotten, our dreams whisper in the corridors

of our days.

In the morning light, brush away the cobwebs

the stagnant mist of things undone.

The dreams, they shimmer in the sunlight.

They dance at the hint of dawn

in the far-away places of the heart.

Gather them gently, like springtime flowers

and hold them close.

The attic is full, and the time is fleeting.

May we treasure these dreams in the misty hours.

May we treasure the sunlight while it is still day.

Isaiah 26: 3-4: You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, The Lord Himself, is the rock eternal.”

These spring days are magical! No wonder we seem to have boundless energy for starting our gardens, and spring-cleaning our homes. The beauty of nature is a very inspirational thing.

As we unclutter our homes, and plant our garden seeds, may we remember to plant seeds of springtime hope in our own lives. May we remember to let go of the things that weigh us down, as best we can.

Spring fever is enchanting! It makes us believe that almost anything is possible. Springtime may be fleeting, but we do know that when we trust in God, He can make the most impossible, possible. (Matthew 19:26: “With man this is impossible, but with God, all things are possible.” God gives us faith and when we trust in Him, everything changes, especially our perspective on the way we think things ‘ought’ to be.

May our springtime days remind us of who we are as God’s Easter people. God has started a good seed in us and that is something to celebrate!

The flower bulbs in the earth are springing to life in radiant beauty. The dark days of winter have past. Wherever we look, the flowers of springtime are blooming; it is time for us to bloom as well.

God has given us new life in Christ. May we begin again, casting our cares on the One who loves and knows us best. We must understand that He longs for us to have a ‘springtime of the heart’.

It can seem hard at times with the weight of the world so heavy, but we must take hold of the Master’s hand, and trust His infinite wisdom and guidance. God knows all things, and sees all things.

The garden of life is a gift from our Heavenly Father, for it is He who has created us and the world. He takes delight in our hopes and dreams. We must trust Him with the garden in every detail, even the weeds that we do not understand.

We must cherish the seed of life that He has planted within our very souls. It is alive. It is blooming. And best of all, it is a flower for all eternity.

Romans 15:13: “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

    1. You are welcome! I have a lot of pictures! 🙂

  2. Stunning shots and such an inspiring post, really enjoyed your poem … no idea how you keep improving on perfect 🙂

    1. Thank you! That is so very sweet of you…I do love this time of year!

      1. it certainly lights up your words!

        1. 🙂 🙂 🙂

  3. The attic is full, and the time is fleeting. Yes!

    1. Yes! This is so very true…:)

  4. A wonderful reflection, Linda! I especially appreciated your words: “As we unclutter our homes, and plant our garden seeds, may we remember to plant seeds of springtime hope in our own lives. May we remember to let go of the things that weigh us down, as best we can.”

May we remember what bring us joy and fulfillment.

    LOVE your photos!

    1. Thank you! It is an on-going effort to continually make room in our lives for what is most important to us. There are a great many distractions to consider on a daily basis. I have found that if I begin and end my day in prayer, (and all throughout the day), I am able to see things in life much more clearly. If we can ‘rest’ in God and in His word, we find solace in a weary world. God never changes and His promises are always true.

  5. What is the spring cleaning you speak of? 😊

    1. You do luck out in that department! 🙂 For the rest of us, it is a pretty long list of things to do! Oddly, I actually like spring cleaning because I do tend to get a lot done. We have quite a few windows and cleaning them takes time. Later though, it is nice to see them looking so much better. It is a good time to donate clothes you no longer wear and things like that. I like filling the bags and hoping that someone will get some good use out of the items. It is always hard for me to part with my books, but I do ‘weed’ through them!

  6. Few thing embody the essence of Christianity more than the promise, and coming, of Spring!!

    1. Spring is indeed a blessing, a time of renewal. I always think of the seemingly dried up flower bulbs planted in the ground. They do not seem like much in their original form. And yet, in due season, these bulbs emerge into the most beautiful flowers. God takes us, like little clay pots, and breathes His life into us. Our life in Christ is much like springtime…eternal life is God’s gift at Easter.

  7. Ah, spring seeds planted dreams from the attic…seeds of life by the giver of life…I love all this tied together…yielding long lasting eternity

    1. Yes! God’s plans are always perfect!

  8. Your flowers are lush and vibrant Linda, as are your springtime gardening reflections. The words the resonated most were, “He takes delight in our hopes and dreams. We must trust Him with the garden in every detail, even the weeds that we do not understand.”

    1. There is much in life that we do not understand fully. Trusting God is always the key. He knows our hearts and minds, our hopes and dreams, as no one else ever could. With Him, we do not get lost in the garden, no matter the thorns or the poison ivy, or the weedy patches. He takes us by the hand and shows us that there is a little bit of heaven here on earth…His love opens our eyes to the beauty and wonder of life.

  9. Easter people–I like that phrase! It does conjure up the hope, strength, faith, and more that you highlight in this post. These realities we enjoy in Christ DO put springtime in our hearts. Thank you, Linda, for the uplift!

    1. Yes! We do have springtime in our hearts! 🙂

  10. Romans 15:13: “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

I can now truly testify to the truth of this verse. For the past 2 weeks, I have been ill and nothing I took – none of the vitamins, none of the meds – seemed to work. All I had was my trust in Jesus. In the strangest way, the line of trust to Jesus held this time. Although, there were points at which the line did fray, it nevertheless did not break.

I believe that faith is a gift. I see it as a seed, given as a gift to us to nurture with love and care till it grows into a strong tree. Oftentimes, faith might take a beating in the autumns and winters of our life but when nurtured with patient devotion, there will always be summers of joy that this great tree will bring us.

    1. Your comment is so very beautiful…it speaks to the hope we have in Christ in a profound way. In many ways, life is not easy for anyone. There are trials, and tribulations, and heartaches. In times of grief and sorrow, the love of God abides with us. The ‘joy’ of Christ is still yet there as the raindrops and teardrops fall. I am so sorry that you have been ill. I wish for you, my friend, renewed health. I pray that ‘summer of joy’ will come upon you in these days. God is with us in every season of our lives; the seasons change, but His love and mercy remains steadfast.

  11. Beautiful post and beautiful pictures Linda. May God continue to bless you.

    1. Thank you! Wishing you blessings also!

  12. Your photos of spring beauty and flowers are stunning, Linda!

We’ve had some glorious spring days here, but only gloom and rain for the last days of April.

    1. We do have a very rainy day today! Yesterday, we had a bridal shower for my niece, and I thank God it was a sunshiny day. May starts tomorrow and more sunny days ahead! 🙂

  13. A beautiful poem, Linda, and wonderful photos of spring. Enjoy them.

    1. Thank you! 🙂 It is such a beautiful time of year!

  14. “The seeds of life”. Such a picture of our spirit-life. So good. God’s grip- Alan

    1. As the spring rains replenish the earth, so does God replenish our souls. It is His love that causes the seeds to grow; it is His love that makes life worth living.

  15. Beautiful verse, Linda. Yes, yes, earth energy is our energy, and what better time to begin again?! Many blessings, my friend. 🌞

    1. I wish you blessings as well! Spring is a good time for new beginnings… Sometimes, we surprise ourselves in seasons such as these. Like all the little green growing things, we can bounce back from the days of a long winter!

  16. Lovely photos and poem, Linda! I’m de-cluttering a lot of stuff at the moment as I’m moving soon, so this definitely spoke to me!

    1. Thank you! I wish you all the best with your move! It is very exciting. It is a lot of work to de-clutter, but so worth the effort. 🙂

  17. Linda, I enjoyed this post so much. I like how you tie the arrival of spring to God’s ever-present hand in our own lives. He wishes to see each of us fully bloom into what he intended us to be. Blessings to you and your family.

    1. I wish you and your family blessings as well! God is ever-present…every moment, every step, He is there. We often grow impatient when things in life do not bloom as quickly as we wish. The Master Gardener watches the garden, by day and by night. Nothing escapes His vision. We do not always understand the plan, but His promises and His plans are perfect. When we grasp the artistry of His ways, so above our own, we are overcome with gratitude. His love is beyond anything we could ever hope to understand. When our hearts are touched by His love, we are changed forever. Suddenly, things bloom in the most unexpected places…

      1. Linda, thank you for sharing the inspiration of our Master Gardener tending to His creation. He promises to always be near when our imperfect actions and words require His green thumb.

        1. His ‘green thumb’ can always be trusted!

  18. Beautiful words and images that are full of hope. Spring brings renewal in nature and simultaneously in my soul. Your photos are a beautiful declaration of the glory of God. His beauty can be found everywhere.

    1. We do see God’s handprint wherever we look. I believe we ‘fall in love’ with spring each year. Suddenly, the world is all brand-new. I think that is what God is trying to tell us about life itself, and spring is a reflection of that. (Revelation 21:5: “Behold, I make all things new…”) Nothing is impossible for God!
