Blue, blue sky, and the bluest sea.
Rocky shore of pewter stones…
So lovely is this stone
polished dutifully by the sea.
I remember how treacherous
the sea can be…
And yet, it is so beautiful.
Here, the world seemingly stands still,
wave upon wave, leaving its mark
upon the silvery shore.
My husband and I just returned from a New England and Canada cruise. The weather was lovely! It was a cool respite from our hot and humid Virginia summer. I actually had to buy some warm clothing when we were there! We went on a whale watching tour in St. Andrews, New Brunswick, Canada. We saw some Minke whales, some porpoises, and some seals. It was so much fun looking for them on this tour!
We visited The Caves Restaurant in St. Martin and had the most delicious seafood chowder. We each threw a rock into the water that was flecked with white veins, which are called, ‘wishing rocks’. We did make a wish!
We had a wonderful time on our tour of Kennebunkport, Maine.
The seasons are changing. Already, people are getting ready for the holidays to come. I used to wait until just before Christmas to do my Christmas shopping. Now, I search for gifts ahead of time. In Canada, and also in Maine, I marveled at the handmade treasures!
Sometimes, when I visit a special place, I feel as though I leave behind a piece of my heart. In Canada, I loved the towering trees, as if I were entering an enchanted forest. And this beautiful forest is surrounded by water all around…enchanted forest and shimmering sea.
When I return home, I thank God for these most enchanting places, works of art in the natural world. How blessed we are with the beauty all around us, mountains and valleys, brooks and streams, sunrise and sunset.
My camera cannot capture the magic, but I believe I capture the photographs in my mind. When I look back, I hear the music of the water, and feel the warmth of the sun.
Wishing you blessings upon this shore of life! Perhaps, we don’t need wishing stones. We do need faith in God above!

What a beautiful trip!
We have done this same cruise several years ago. It is certainly a place you could go back to again and again. Time for the pumpkin spice coffee and all things autumnal. I love summertime, but I also love the change of seasons and look forward to each one. Our time in Maine and Canada reminded me of just how beautiful it is when summer slowly fades into fall.

Thank you! It was a very special trip. My brother and my sister-in-law were with us, and we had so much fun! I especially loved the whale watching tour in the Bay of Fundy…the whales would suddenly pop up and surprise us. We took another tour in Kennebunkport, Maine, and we watched as the captain picked up his lobster pots. I thought I knew something about lobsters, but I certainly had a lot to learn!!! We brought little lobster stuffies and sea turtle stuffies home for the grandchildren. They loved them! 🙂

Thank you, Gary! This is a place you would love…a photographer’s dream! Of course, there is no end to beautiful places, both at home and away. Here at home, lots of yellow leaves are starting to fall, and in the not too distant future, we will have the fireplace going!

It was fun watching and waiting for the whales to appear. I took a great many pictures! The scenery was breathtaking. It must be incredible in October when the leaves change color!

Autumn is definitely here now!!! It was nice to enjoy that last bit of summer. I am ready now to decorate my Autumn tree and start thinking about the holidays…I took so many pictures on this trip…time to put some of them in my scrapbooks!

Thank You! Yes! The cooler weather is much appreciated! We are in a cooling trend at home as well. The leaves are starting to change color…lots of yellow leaves falling to the ground. I still have some roses blooming, but soon the Mums will take center stage. 🙂
I agree with you, Linda–in some of the places we’ve visited, “I leave behind a piece of my heart” too! You wouldn’t have found any of those pieces where you were, however. 😁 We’ve never been to Maine or eastern Canada. So glad you enjoyed a memorable trip!
