What is it that captures our hearts so well, as a photograph of days gone by?
It is as if we find ourselves on a tree lined street in autumn; the wind blows, and leaves of every color scatter around us.
There is the golden slant of the sun, and our own ruminating thoughts; how could it be these days passed by in such a flurry?
The leaves dance before our eyes, too beautiful for words.
We find a crimson leaf, a valentine that tugs upon our hearts, bound in twine.
We find a tangerine leaf, and recall a day in the pumpkin patch; all those pumpkins are still upon the vine, as far as the eye can see.
The wind picks up and a pale yellow leaf falls across our shoes.
Yes, we know that one; the last days of summer are breezing in to say goodbye.
Oh, there are love letters here in the old photographs; wistful and passionate memories are scattered in the fall foliage.
The sky is endlessly blue, and our remembrance is keen; above us, clouds drift and pause, like enchanted dreams.
Perhaps, we should fly a kite in moments such as these; we should celebrate the knowing of where we have been.
And then, with the slant of the sun just so, and the feeling of spring in our September hearts, we should set sail again, running along, with a kite in the wind.

Beautiful Linda, as ever. Your writing is so very uplifting and lovely. Anita.
Thank you! Two of my sons have summer birthdays. We have been going through old family photos this past month. We have made a number of keepsake gifts with the pictures. So many memories of when they were little!
Linda, your writing is so beautiful. I was carried away on these lovely images. May we enjoy the sweet memories and blessings of love.
God has blessed us with our beloveds…friends and family who bring us so much joy!
I know the feeling, and you’ve captured it beautifully well.
Thank you! I am a bit overwhelmed by the collection of photos we have! Many are in albums. Quite a few are in photo boxes. And piles of them are digital. I love to look at them, but I don’t always know how to store them! π
Lovely photos!! They capture our memories so perfectly, don’t they?
Yes! Time passes, but when we look at a photograph, time stands still. We remember the moments as though it were yesterday…even when many years have gone by. π
lovely words and memories … you captured it well π
Thank you! π
welcome π
Well crafted Kate! Old photo bring out many memories, hopefully most are good. We need to celebrate our past. Afterall, even before our past, others came before us.l
It has been said that we are every age that we have ever been. I think it is good to celebrate our past and all the people and places we have loved…all of it is a part of us. That is why keeping a journal is such a great thing. When we write, we remember so much. I am always amazed at what memories come back to me when I write long-hand with pen and paper. It is something I have done all of my life, and often, I am surprised by what I learn. I also learn so much from others when I read what they write…whether it is a short poem, or a memoir, or whatever!
Well said Linda. I write all of my first drafts as well as my journal in pen. I guess I am a bit of old school, but my thoughts become words when I write it out. The keyboard and editing come later.
