Thanksgiving Tree

Imagine in a barren field, stands a tall, majestic tree.

The trunk is solid, and holds the weight of oh, so many branches.

At times, the wind rises up, and the leaves stir; ever so gently, a cascade of nature’s bounty falls to the ground.

There are moments when the branches tremble; we have moments like that too, our arms flailing in the wind-currents of life.

But, the trunk of that tree holds steady, the love of God easily bearing His children’s burdens.

His love letters spread across the globe, leaves of untold beauty, canvassing the earth in color.

High in that tree, a little bird sings, and He sings with all his might.

He might be small, but just above, and not so very far away, there is an everlasting spring just waiting.

How could he know, this tiny creature, about such an amazing thing?

The heart of God so great, that even a songbird in a barren field can find a safe and happy home.

This little bird just seems to know, that when the cold winds settle, and the seasons change, spring is just a heartbeat away.

  3. Last night, I told God I want to learn how to trust. To trust like a child, not like an adult – with conditions and caveats galore. He didn’t answer me last night. But today, I’m sensing a quiet languidness within. No hurry, no rush. No searching for big beauties but content with gazing at little parcels of pretties. Thankful for littles – the chance to stretch my legs after a long drive, a short stroll in the sun with my husband, to grin at my kids and see them grin right back.

Slowly, it comes to me. This is what the trusting of a child feels like.
