An Open Window

Have you ever stood on tiptoe and looked in on your own life?

It is like gazing at a mansion on a hill, and you get closer to take a peak.

You find a window, and behold, it is a house of dusty corridors, places you have been, places that you know.

Sunlight streams through the windows; dust has settled, thick and deep.

Cobwebs cling here and there, a tapestry of sorts, moments etched in time.

You wander inside, knowing there is more to learn, an open space, safe, within.

Your hands brush against the dusty dreams, leaving fingerprints everywhere.

You hear your own footsteps on the bare floors, as if you stepped on glass.

As you drift from room to room, opening boxes, looking into drawers long shut, you are suddenly overcome.

It is not tears that line your face, or nostalgia for things long past.

No, it is simply the glimpse of your own soul reaching for something more.

In the quiet stillness, you understand that your heart is heaven-bound; it always was, but reflection draws you closer.

The rooms are full of heaven’s treasures, faith, hope, and love, dispersed like gems in a jewelry case.

Only, these gems shine for eternity, glittering from all that light at heaven’s door; like the morning sun that greets us day to day, the light breaks free within our souls, and nothing is ever the same again.

    1. Wishing you blessings as we begin our Lenten walk. I am thinking of decorating an Easter tree this year…I am getting ahead of myself!

    1. Thank you! The sun is shining today after many days of dreary weather. After the rain, the whole world seems to sparkle! We do have our troubles here upon the earth, but God’s light keeps pouring down on us all the same. πŸ™‚

  2. exquisite!
All our hearts have an endless well of love if only we pause to connect.
Then it will naturally overflow <3

    1. So true! πŸ™‚

  4. You write so poetically, and then you wrap it all up in the beauty of heaven. Thank you for your always meaningful and soothing words!

    1. Pieces of heaven are always with us to illuminate our path. Without those pieces, life would be very hard. God is so good..He shares with us such a bounty day to day. We know our future home awaits, but even here and now, God abides with us and miracles abound.

  5. A lovely meditation. It left me with a feeling of peace.

    1. We are so blessed with God’s peace! The world cannot offer us that. To God be the glory, the peace that resides in our hearts…the Holy Spirit ever at work within us, building bridges of love that only God Himself can build. It is this peace that sustains us day to day and forevermore. Without that peace, we are nothing.

  6. That was just beautiful, Linda! And a very timely message for the season of Lent.

    1. Thank you! I know it is way too early, but all of my grandchildren were here at one time this past weekend. They helped me start decorating an Easter tree. They are so excited for Easter! πŸ™‚
