St. Patrick’s Day

It would be nice on this St. Patrick’s Day for a merry band of leprechauns to carry off this Coronavirus (Covid 19) for us; still, even without a single lucky charm, we are being showered with blessings day in and day out.

God never leaves us without a toolbox when there is work to be done. How lucky we are that people are using these tools to help one another. Everywhere, there are people trying to keep each other safe; of course, there are instances where this is not happening. Let us pray that in those situations, change will come about for the good of all.

If you stand back and see how collectively, government, businesses, and individual persons are uniting together against this pandemic, it is an amazing thing. It really is a circumstance where everyone must do their part; without the collective effort of many, serious consequences will ensue.

Like everyone else, I wish I could move the clock forward to a time when this season of fear and suffering around the globe would be over. How nice if we could time-travel now! History reminds us that we are not alone in this season of uncertainty; there have been many seasons of turbulence due to famine, war, and disease.

It is here and now that we must bring our best selves to the situation. It is here and now that we must be our most patient and kind; stress can lead to a great many woes. We must do our best to take care of those around us and also ourselves.

It may not be a patch of clover for any of us at the moment. But, St. Patrick’s Day is a good day to reflect on the blessings of this very hour. Perhaps in life, the ‘pot of gold’ is really the treasure we hold within our hearts. We need this treasure now more than ever…faith, hope, and love. And may we be generous with this bounty. May it overflow like a river without end. 1 Corinthians 13:13: “And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.”

We have the peace of Christ which no one can take from us. This peace is not on the other side of the rainbow; this is our peace today and forevermore. We do have cause for celebration on this St. Patrick’s Day!

John 14:27: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

    1. We are in a valley, but God is always close. He reminds us that with Him, no valley is too deep, no mountain too high. He is our rock!

  3. I really love this, Linda. How empowering to read that God has given each of us a toolbox, with everything we need inside it.
