Beautiful Pages

It is a beautiful Sunday afternoon; I can’t help but thank God for the incredible sunshine, and another open page in the book of life. The parade of our days tells a story; there is sorrow mingled with gladness, there are good times, alongside hard times. Still in all, it is a book to be cherished, all the pages part of our legacy, a one of a kind work of art.

It is a work of art; moreover, it a masterpiece. God guides us as we labor in the vineyard of this life. Through His grace every detail is attended to, every precious hour meaningful to the course of our lives. There is purpose in His encounter with us; we are fruitful because of His care.

In the hard times, it is not easy to understand the plan He has for our days upon the earth. We become confused in the shadows. But God is always at work, be it sunshine or overcast days. It is in the shadows that He calls softly to us to remember His love.

The truth is, life itself, is always under construction. One day builds upon another. One dream ends and a new one begins.

Like the sketch for a new garden, beautiful details emerge as you keep drawing. First, there is the idea for something new, and then all at once, a butterfly garden comes into view…one captivating thought begets another, all the butterflies finding a home.

We must continuously celebrate this parade of our days. We must look for the good in even the most melancholy moments. Time passes quickly and every sketch needs more than a black and white canvas. It needs color and light in order to find the beauty therein.

Not a one of us can escape heartache at times. Not a one of us will always have sun-lit days with endless blue skies. We can however, bring our very best to the page each day, knowing that the author of life, God Himself, abides with us.

It is a beautiful Sunday afternoon; I can’t help but thank God for the incredible sunshine, and another open page in the book of life. With Him, the Son shines bright, rain or shine, and the pages have everlasting, radiant beauty.

Psalm 139:16: “Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.”

Ecclesiastes 11:5: “As you do not know the path of the wind, or how the body is formed in a mother’s womb, so you cannot understand the work of God, the Maker of all things.”

Jeremiah 1:5: “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

Psalm 119:73: “Your hands made me and formed me; give me understanding to learn your commands.”

  1. The beauty of life is that we get a freah page everyday

    1. Thank God for each fresh new page and a time to start again!

  2. Thank you for the uplifting post at the end of a beautiful day.

    1. These picture-perfect days have been awesome! My roses have loved this weather and we have started a vegetable garden.:) Being outdoors is refreshing after the long winter and this pandemic! 🙂

      1. Yes! I was able to get outside this past weekend after many, many days inside.

        1. Liz, getting outdoors is such a wonderful thing. We immediately feel better with the fresh air and sunlight. Nature is a cure for many ills! 🙂

          1. I absolutely agree! It’s been the best tonic for me since I was a baby.

          2. I feel the same way! 🙂 🙂 🙂

  3. Good, descriptive words here, Linda. He, being the ultimate artist, sketches, shades, and brings sculptures rain or shine. We are His handiwork. Lots of colors to come. His grip – Alan

    1. I absolutely love that line…lots of colors to come!

  4. That was so uplifting! Thanks so much for reminding us that God is always with us, and that even the hard times are a part of the bigger picture of our life. Sometimes we just need to put things into perspective!

    1. The big picture is hard for us to see at times. Knowing that God is there in the midst of the chaos really helps. 🙂

  5. It is the good as well as the bad, the sad as well as the happy, that builds and forms us into who we are meant to be. We don’t grow into the person we were meant to be by only being sad or by living in perpetual pursuit of happiness or by allowing life’s troubles to constantly pull us off our path.

We grow by allowing ourselves to experience everything – and yet, be tugged forward by faith and hope.

    Not impatience. Not fear too.

    1. I love this comment…’we are tugged forward by faith and hope.’ That is so very true; God keeps pulling us along even when our feet are tired and we are weary. He plants His seeds of hope within our souls, and so we continuously move forward. That is why each and every step we take matters. Our feet are pointed in the right direction and we keep going.

  6. your faith is so strong, I can feel the joy it brings you radiate out!

    1. The joy and peace we have in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is there for us always; He never leaves us. The world changes, but God remains unchanging. His promises are forever and our hope is secure.

  7. Love post, as always, Linda! Really descriptive and you really helped paint a picture here. Having a fresh, new page every day is one of lifes blessings. We should never take it for granted x

    1. Thank you Jenny! A fresh page is such an awesome thing! We all make mistakes; we all fall down sometimes. I always think to myself when I wake up, ‘new day, new dawn’. It makes me start thinking about happy things…even now! God has blessed us with a new day full of possibilities. 🙂
