Once Upon a Christmas Tree

Once upon a Christmas tree, we hang our lovely trinkets; a medley of shimmering stars cast their glow.

Glass angels sparkle in the fairy lights; they remind us to keep the faith.

Atop the tree, an angel in white, admonishes our hearts to stay strong.

A keeper of the evergreen branches, she is wise and knowing.

In life, we wander deep into the forest of evergreen trees, and sometimes, we lose our way.

But, at Christmas, there is a light that pierces our hearts.

We find our way, despite the growing darkness in the forest.

On Christmas Day, snow falls thick and heavy, and blankets the earth in a world of winter-white.

One evergreen stands taller than the rest; upon the branches, tiny birds gather, and they nest.

Like Christmas bells, their chatter echoes throughout the forest.

Not unlike the song of angels, morning bells ring out in a melodious chant.

We are not monks dressed in robes, but we know the music of the soul.

Once upon a Christmas tree, we hang our lovely trinkets; in the night sky above, a shimmering star lights our way, and we find our way home for Christmas.

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace.”: Romans 15:13

    1. I want to wish you a very ‘Happy Christmas!’ The semester I spent overseas in Cambridge, England, was one of the happiest times in my life. I loved the English countryside. All of my life, I was ‘in love’ with all things British. To actually live there in person, was a dream come true. I hope to return there again. Your blog has brought me so much joy! I read your posts, and once again, I have a bird’s eye view of the United Kingdom. Through your marvelous posts, I return to a place that captured my heart so many years ago. Thank you, Jenny!
